Admission to Profession
The information provided in this section is intended to provide basic information about admission into the Law Society. However, it should not be considered a substitute for the statutes, rules and other authorities which prescribe the requirements for admission to the Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador. It represents a summary of requirements which change from time to time. The Law Society reserves the right to make changes in admission and other requirements.
Admissions are subject to the Law Society Act, 1999, SNL 1999, c. L-9.1 (the “Act”) and the Law Society Rules (the “Rules”), which include regulations, by-laws and resolutions approved by the governing body of the Law Society. It remains the responsibility of the applicant to be aware of and meet all the requirements and deadlines necessary for admission to the Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador. Should questions arise considering these requirements, the questions should be addressed directly to Francis P. O’Brien or Regina Whitty.
