The Law Society’s New Professionals’ Assistance Program

Until now, the Professionals’ Assistance Program has been jointly sponsored by the Law Society and the Newfoundland and Labrador Medical Association. Recently the relationship ended and the Law Society decided to obtain a new provider for counseling services to its members and their families.

The new service provider is Homewood Human Solutions. Homewood has more than 33 years of experience and capability. Counseling is their core business. Approximately 90% of counseling services are provided face-to-face, giving members the personal connection they expect. The quality of their service is evidenced by their 98% client retention rate. Counseling is provided for a full range of personal and family-related issues or life events including Addiction, Adolescent issues, Aging and care giving, Anger management, Anxiety, Child development, Communication problems, Domestic violence, Depression, Family issues, Grief and bereavement, Marital issues, Parenting, Personal Adjustment problems, Relationship difficulties, Sexuality, Stress, Separation/Divorce/Custody, Special needs of children, Trauma/Crisis Management.

Members currently being counseled by Rosemary Lahey, MSW, RSW, can continue in that relationship. Members seeking assistance for the first time will be directed to Homewood.

The Professionals’ Assistance Program phone numbers which provides direct access to 24/7/365 assistance will remain the same and are as follows, (709) 754-3007 and 1-800-563-9133. Calls are answered live and appointments are booked at point of first contact by qualified professionally trained counselors.

As always, calls to Rosemary Lahey and Homewood are kept in strict confidence and the Law Society is never informed about a caller’s identity.
